My name is Alejandro (Al) Ortiz and I’m an assistant staff writer here on our website. I work on historical statewide ballot measures, update breaking news stories, and develop encyclopedic articles on any and every ballot measure. I am a recent graduate of Syracuse University and obtained a B.A. in Writing and Rhetoric. However, before I trekked to the frozen tundra of Upstate New York, I was born in the treacherous and blistering heat of San Antonio, Texas and was raised in McAllen, Texas, where 95 degrees meant we were in the middle of cold front. I’m a huge country music fan and also like to dabble in some classic rock. In addition, I follow sports. To me, though, there is nothing better than playing or watching the great game of football. My team of choice? The Dallas Cowboys. Whenever I’m not diving head first into the informative and bountiful world of statewide and local ballot measures, I’m either trying to teach my 2 year old beagle new tricks or barbequing any cut of meat you could imagine.
I love writing and helping others write. It’s something I knew when I was young that I liked doing and wanted to keep doing. So please do not be hesitant to ask any questions about our website.
