State legislative activity
Arizona
On February 1, 2011, Arizona SB1592 was introduced in the Arizona State Senate, co-sponsored by Senators Nancy Barto, Sylvia Allen, and Scott Bundgaard.[1] Both houses of the state assembly passed the bill, but Governor Jan Brewer vetoed the bill on April 18, 2011.
Colorado 
On March 3, 2011 House Bill 1273, the "Health Care Opportunity and Patient Empowerment Act," was introduced in the state house. It passed a month later, but has been postponed indefinitely by the senate's Local Government Committee[2]
Georgia
On March 3, 2011, state representatives Rick Jasperse (12th District), John Meadows (5th District), Timothy Bearden (68th District), Terry England (108th District), Roger Williams (4th District), and others introduced House Bill 461.[3] The bill passed the both houses of the Georgia General Assembly and was signed into law by Governor Nathan Deal on April 20, 2011.
Louisiana
On April 22, 2011, Louisiana state Senator Elbert Guillory introduced SB206. The bill was referred to the senate's Health and Welfare Committee, which delayed beginning discussion on the bill.[4][5]
Michigan
On May 26, 2011, HB4693 was filed in the Michigan House of Representatives, sponsored by Tom McMillin.
Missouri

On February 28, 2011, State representative Eric Burlison and state Senator Brian Nieves introduced two identical health care compact bills (HB 423 and SB 367) in their respective houses of the Missouri General Assembly.[6] The legislation passed both houses, and in May, and Governor Jay Nixon allowed the bill to pass into law on July 14, 2011.[7]
Montana
On February 12, 2011, Champ Edmunds (R-Missoula) introduced HB 526, in the state house.[8] The bill quickly passed in the house, and in a little more than a month had also passed the senate. On May 12, 2011, Governor Brian Schweitzer vetoed the bill.[9]
North Dakota
On January 10, 2011, state representative James Kasper introduced HB1291. It was defeated in the house by a 36-56 vote.[10]
Ohio
On June 15, 2011, Timothy Grendell introduced a version of the health care compact in the Ohio State Senate.
Oklahoma
On February 7, 2011, state Senators Brian Bingman and Clark Jolley introduced SB722.[11] State Representative Glen Mulready sponsored an identical bill in the house.[12]. The bills passed their respective chambers, and the legislation was signed into law by Governor Mary Fallin on May 18, 2011.[13]
South Carolina
On April 20, 2011 State Senator Larry Grooms (R) and 16 co-sponsors introduced SB 836 in the South Carolina State Senate. The bill was immediately referred to the Medical Affairs Committee.[14]
Tennessee
On February 7, 2011, State senator Mae Beavers introduced SB 0326.[15] The bill passed the senate in mid-May by vote of 22-9.[16]
Texas
On April 20, 2011, the Texas House of Representatives passed HB 5, sponsored by Representative Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham. After passing the state senate on June 27, 2011, the legislation was signed into law by Governor Rick Perry.[17]
Utah
The Utah State Senate passed SB 208 on March 6, 2012.[18]
