Great revisions to the IL Con-Con page! JSiemer 15:09, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Regarding School bond elections, the portal states the proper formatting for school bond elections, however under the portal [School bond and tax elections I have added in [Wisconsin school bond referendum] as the most accurate log for bond elections in WI. Referendumking 18:34, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

To all active contributors: I've made a template to put on the pages of ballot measures that will not appear on the ballot. To apply it, you type {{no}} at the beginning of the article.

I am also encouraging everyone to remove category tags at the bottom of 2008 articles that say "2008 ballot measures" and "NAME OF STATE ballot measures" and replace those with these category tags:

  • [[Category:Did not make ballot in Idaho]]
  • [[Category:Did not make ballot in 2008]]

Both of those categories will become subcategories of the bigger categories.

Why did I do this?

  • I believe it is helpful to the reader to immediately see at a glance that a ballot measure is not going to be on the ballot.
  • The Category:2008 ballot measures category has nearly 600 articles in it right now--most of which will not actually be on the ballot. If we take out the ones that aren't going to be on the ballot, we make the category more meaningful.

Please check it out and see if you agree with the change.January 15:23, 2 July 2008 (EDT)

Use one senelec template rather than the many?

I noticed you created the following templates: {{Senelec1999‎}}, {{Senelec2009‎}}, {{Senelec1988‎}}, {{Senelec1998‎}}, {{Senelec1996‎}}, {{Senelec1980‎}}, {{Senelec2007‎}}, {{Senelec1974}}, {{Senelec2002‎}}, {{Senelec1990}}, {{Senelec1994‎}}, {{Senelec2000‎}}, {{Senelec2008‎}}, and {{Senelec‎}}.

If I were to make {{Senelec‎}} accept an optional parameter for year, would you use that instead? I would make the year default to 2004, since that is what {{Senelec‎}} uses.

After my change, you could just use {{Senelec‎|year}} instead of having to make a new template for every new year. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:29 PM PDT 18 Jun 2010

If I make a template with a year parameter, I will make sure it puts the articles in categories that include the year also. I'll make a template and you can play with it. From what I can tell, some people who made templates in the past, didn't quite understand how they work, so they weren't always successful getting them to do what they wanted.
I'll leave a message here with some instructions and links to the template after I've made it. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 8:06 PM PDT 20 Jun 2010
Okay, I updated {{Senelec}}. You can use the following in place of the fixed year versions of templates:
{{Senelec|1974}}, {{Senelec|1980‎}}, {{Senelec|1988‎}}, {{Senelec|1990}}, {{Senelec|1994‎}}, {{Senelec|1996‎}}, {{Senelec|1998‎}}, {{Senelec|1999‎}}, {{Senelec|2000‎}}, {{Senelec|2002‎}}, {{Senelec|2007‎}}, {{Senelec|2008‎}}, and {{Senelec|2009‎}}.
Just plain {{Senelec}} is equivalent to {{Senelec|2004}}. I can make it default to the current year, but that might be a little trickier.
Try it out. Tell me if anything unexpected happens. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 8:46 PM PDT 20 Jun 2010
