Teammm, welcome to Ballotpedia!

We're glad you're here. Here's how to get started:

1. Watch Ballotpedia's 5-minute overview.
2. Learn more about how you can contribute to our monthly projects.

August's Project of the Month

Fast-Facts-Logo-strikethrough.png
Summer is almost at an end but before the November elections begin, August brings with it two election dates with ballot measures. On August 5, both Michigan and Missouri voters will cast their "yes" or "no" votes on a grand total of six measures; one of which will be on the Michigan ballot. Alaskans will vote on August 19 to repeal or uphold SB 21, an oil tax cuts bill. This year, in addition to profiles on every certified measure, Ballotpedia brings you "Fast Facts."

Watch the video available here for a quick run-down on Alaska's Oil Tax Cuts Veto Referendum, Measure 1.

Welcome to our community! --Bailey Ludlam, Ballotpedia's managing editor

Welcome!

Hello! Thank you for your contributions on the Maryland same-sex referendum page, the Potential 2012 ballot measures page and the potential 2012 Maryland measures template. I have reviewed your edits and thank you for the solid contributions you have added. I have changed your edits of "Referendum supporters" and "Referendum opponents" due to our standards that those sections be entitled "Support" and "Opposition", since there will be other subsections that will be added under these sections. Since this is a veto referendum, I will be adding a sentence untangling any confusion as to who is for or against same-sex marriage in Maryland. Thank you again, and I hope to see more of your work on our pages! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me on my talk page. Alejandortiz 08:55, 24 February 2012 (CST)

Thank you Alejandro for taking the time to review my edits. I'm glad I was able to update these pages, being as though they will possibly become important ones in the next few months. I like the new additions you have contributed as well in the polling section and the statements that will clear up some of the confusion in supporters and opponents.

Great! Thank you for taking the time to add this useful information. I look forward to seeing more of your edits! Alejandortiz 13:06, 24 February 2012 (CST)

Hey Al, is your Washington Post poll inside the table supposed to say 2012 or 2011? I'm just making sure everything is good. :) -Teammm 13:31, 24 February 2012 (CST)

Oh, I apologize. That should say 2012. I'll make the changes. Thanks for pointing that out! Alejandortiz 13:55, 24 February 2012 (CST)

No problem. Thanks for making it. Looks good. :) -Teammm 13:59, 24 February 2012 (CST)

Martin O'Malley

Hi Teammm. Thanks for your recent contributions to Martin O'Malley's page. I just wanted to let you know I reverted one minor change. In his profile box, I deleted the "61st" you had added in front of "Governor of Maryland." While this is absolutely true, we try to keep the titles standardized across all of the pages (for example: Governor of New York or Governor of Alabama) because those parameters are used to build tables on other pages. Thanks, again, for taking the time to make your edits - I really appreciate all of your work across the wiki. And I'll echo Al's comment on your page earlier: if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me on my talk page. Ltrodgers 13:00, 2 March 2012 (CST)

Okay, thank you! - Teammm Let's Talk! :) 17:07, 2 March 2012 (CST)

Material you recently added to Ballotpedia has some of the characteristics of material that was copied-and-pasted from Wikipedia. These characteristics include:
  • A number of red links to articles that do not exist on Ballotpedia, but do exist on Wikipedia.
  • Categories that do not exist on Ballotpedia, but do exist on Wikipedia.
  • A reference/footnote citation style that is frequently used on Wikipedia.

If you did copy-and-paste text from Wikipedia, you may have done so because you believe that text from Wikipedia is in the public domain and can be used anywhere else with no conditions. That is not the case.

If the text in question covers a topic that is relevant to Ballotpedia, we recommend that you re-write the text to put it into your own words, as well as removing inappropriate red links and categories that don't exist on Ballotpedia.

Copyright infractions place Ballotpedia at legal risk, as well as violating the rights of others, and we take this very seriously. Users who continue to add such material, or who do not rectify the problem when it is brought to their attention, are likely to be blocked from editing.

Hi Teammm.

Hi Teammm. I saw your note on Lauren's page and wanted to clarify the copyright issue with Wikipedia material. I'll preface it by saying that if you personally added the contents to both Wikipedia and Ballotpedia then that content can stay. If that is the case, please just post your Wikipedia username so that I may verify the contributions.

The reason you may have come across references on Ballotpedia that state that the content was copied from Wikipedia is because that material was copied prior to Wikipedia changing their copyright status. Up until mid-June 2009, Ballotpedia and Wikipedia both used the GFDL license. In practice, this meant that an article from Wikipedia could be copied onto Ballotpedia, and vice versa, as long as the article obeyed reuser rights and obligations including appropriate attribution as defined in the GFDL license.

However, in June 2009, Wikipedia's copyright license changed to the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA). Ballotpedia does not use the CC-BY-SA license. Ballotpedia users are not allowed to copy text that is licensed by CC-BY-SA. Text on Wikipedia that is licensed only under CC-BY-SA cannot be copied onto Ballotpedia.

You can read more about this here.
