The Utah Public Ownership of Stock Amendment, also known as "Constitutional Amendment 2", appeared on the November 2, 2004 statewide ballot in Utah as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1]

  • Yes: 478,195 (57.3%) Approved
  • No: 355,722 (42.7%)

The language on the ballot said:

Shall the Utah Constitution be amended to authorize the state or a public institution of higher education to acquire an ownership interest in a private business in exchange for rights to intellectual property developed by the state or public institution of higher education?
