Van Argyrakis was a Republican candidate for Attorney General in the 2014 elections. Argyrakis withdrew from the campaign in December 2013 due to other commitments.[1] Argyrakis has been a practicing attorney for 21 years, mainly working in immigration law.[2]

Argyrakis entered the race for Nebraska Attorney General in 2010 as a Democrat. In 1988, Argyrakis had worked with former US Rep Hal Daub, a Republican, as a paid intern. As time went on, Argyrakis switched to the Democratic Party citing frustrations with the Republican party and former president George W. Bush. [3] Argyrakis withdrew his candidacy after 3 weeks and switched back to the Republican party.[4]
