Verafirma - Sign Initiative Petitions with your iPhone, 12-8-09 |
SACRAMENTO, California: Supporters of the Citizen Power Initiative, officially known as the California No Political Deductions from Public Employee Paychecks (2010), are using a new method to collect a minimum of approximately 694,354 valid signatures for the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot - the iPhone, an internet and multimedia enabled smartphone. Using the technology developed by a California based company, Verafirma, they are encouraging supporters to sign in support of the measure by downloading and using an iPhone application. This method of signature collection marks a first in not only the state of California but also the entire United States. The validity of the signatures collected via the iPhone application will be determined after they are reviewed by the California Secretary of State's office. The signature collection deadline is May 3, 2010.[1]
