A Vermont State Militia Amendment was on the 1954 ballot in Vermont as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved, becoming Article 43 of the Amendments to the Vermont Constitution.

Article 43 amended Section 55 of Chapter II of the Vermont Constitution to say:

The inhabitants of this State shall be trained and armed for its defense, under such regulations, restrictions, and exceptions, as Congress, agreeably to the Constitution of the United States, and the Legislature of this State, shall direct.
