U.S. Senate and U.S. House
All candidates filing for U.S. Senate and U.S. House are required to submit 500 signatures.[1]

In 2012, the last day to circulate and file nomination petitions for candidates was 5:00 p.m. on June 14.[1]
State offices
State Senate
All candidates filing for State Senate are required to submit 100 signatures.[1]
State House
All candidates filing for State House are required to submit 50 signatures.[1]

Ballot measures
Vermont ballot measures come in the form of:
- legislatively-referred constitutional amendments, which are constitutional amendments that appear on a state's ballot as ballot measures because the state legislature in that state voted to put them before the voters.
Vermont is one of the 24 states that do not have initiative and referendum.
