Contents |
Fort managed the City Council Campaigns in 1989 and 1993. He then joined the Georgia State Senate in 1996. He has served in that position since, representing the 39th district.
Fort is a past Assistant Director of the Martin Luther King Jr, Papers Project. He was a professor for Morehouse College from 1983 to 1994. He then worked as Senior Assistant for the City of Atlanta City Council from 1994 to 1996. From 1996 to 1997 he worked as a Professor of History/Political Science from Clark University.
Fort earned his BA in American History in 1978. He went on to receive his MA in African-American History from Atlanta University in 1981. He is currently attending Emory University.

Fort ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 39. Fort ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on July 31, 2012. No Republican candidate filed to run for this seat. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2] Fort ran unopposed in the general election.[3]
