2010
Adair County election fraud
Adair County Assistant District Attorney Larry Langley confirmed Friday that Darryl Cates, the 73-year-old Westville, Okla. man charged with four counts of felony voter fraud, turned himself in to Adair County authorities this week and later was released on bond.[1]
Cates had four counts brought against him July 13, 2010 in the 15th Judicial District Court of Oklahoma. Two carges were for false affidavit in voting registration and two for false notarization of absentee ballot. Assistant District Attorney Larry Langley signed off on this. The crime Cates is accused of is punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years and a fine up to $5,000.[2]
2008
"Flippant attitude"
The Altus Times expressed concern about the "flippant attitude" State Election Board Secretary Michael Clingman has about voter fraud in Oklahoma. The newspaper opined:
Clingman seems out of touch with his comments, or maybe we just caught him on a bad day. However, we hope he is aware of the ACORN investigations in other states and he is working to make sure all voter registrations in Oklahoma are above board and legal. We hope he and his staff have taken the time to visit with ACORN within Oklahoma to make sure things are being done properly here.[3]
