Washington State Liquor Sales, Initiative 1157 (2011)

The Washington State Liquor Sales, Initiative 1157, did not appear on the November 2011 statewide ballot in Washington as an Initiative to the People. The measure would have allowed stores with a 5-year record of no public safety violations to sell liquor. The proposal was similar to a 2010 proposal to privatize liquor. The new proposal, however, would have implemented "stricter criteria to get a license to sell spirits" and would have preserved existing statutory taxes.

The proposed measure was sponsored by Stefan Sharkansky who helped draft 2010's Washington Privatize Liquor Distribution, Initiative 1100.

According to the Washington Secretary of State the initiative was withdrawn by the sponsor on May 24, 2011.

In order to qualify for the ballot, supporters were required to submit a minimum of 241,153 valid signatures by July 8, 2011.
