The Washington Vehicle Tax Initiative, also known as I-1049, will be on the November 2009 ballot in Washington, if its sponsors can collect a minimum of 241,153 signatures of registered voters by 5:00 p.m. on July 3, 2009.
I-1049 is an Initiative to the People sponsored by Tim Eyman, Leo Fagan, M.J. Fagan.
The official ballot title for I-1049 says, "Initiative Measure No. 1049 concerns charges relating to motor vehicles. This measure would set annual vehicle fees at $30, lower dealer service fees, repeal or reduce certain taxes and fees, base vehicle taxes on depreciated purchase price, and require retirement of certain bonds."

According to the description prepared by the Washington Secretary of State:
- "This measure would set basic vehicle license charges at $25 annually, plus a $5 filing fee; require voter approval for additional charges; limit the vehicle documentation service fee to $5; repeal or reduce certain taxes and fees; and establish a valuation schedule to calculate motor vehicle taxes. Certain transportation authority bonds would be retired and the taxes pledged to repay them would be discontinued on their retirement date or March 31, 2010, whichever occurs first."
