A West Sacramento Sales Tax, Measure V ballot proposition was on the November 4, 2008 ballot in Yolo County, California, for voters in the City of West Sacramento. It was approved.
- Yes: 8,636 (57.8%)
- No: 6,300 (42.2%)
The ballot question said:
- Shall the City of West Sacramento continue one-fourth cent of the existing one-half cent sales tax for general government purposes including but not limited to community facilities and programs until March 31, 2033 to replace the one-fourth cent set to expire on March 31, 2013?
The tax generates about $1,000,000 a year for the city.
On the same ballot was Measure U, an advisory measure, asking voters what they'd like to see the tax proceeds used for--particularly asking if they'd like the money to go to a streetcar system.
