Whatcom County Fire Protection District 2,6,9 and 10 Dissolution (November 2009)
There were four separate propositions that sought to dissolve Fire District 2, 6, 9 and 10. Last year voters approved a measure that created the South Whatcom Fire Authority and this will provide the services to these district areas once the separate districts are dissolved. The districts are still legal entities, but do not actually function since the South Whatcom Fire Authority came into being last year, this proposition is just a formality to legally dissolve the districts that are already being serviced by another authority.
The measure for fire protection district 2 was approved.
The measure for fire protection district 6 was approved.
The measure for fire protection district 9 was approved.
The measure for fire protection district 10 was approved.
The ballot read:
"PROPOSITION NO. 1 DISSOLUTION OF WHATCOM COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT NO. 2 The Board of Fire Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire District No. 2 passed Resolution No. 2009-02 concerning a proposition to dissolve the fire district. This measure would dissolve the fire district effective December 31, 2009, thereby allowing all fire and emergency medical services and administration to be performed exclusively by the voter approved South Whatcom Fire Authority which has provided such services since its formation on January 1, 2009. Should this proposition be:"
