Where did governors go to school? How many earned undergraduate degrees? Graduate degrees? How many did not pursue higher education at all? The State Excutives Project on Ballotpedia will be comparing academic credentials of the different offices to learn how the officials match up throughout the states. The chart below displays education information for all 50 current governors.

As of January 2015, there are:

  • 48 governors with a bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.)
  • 12 governors with a master's degree (M.A., M.S., MBA, etc.)
  • 24 governors with a J.D.
  • 2 governor with a Ph.D.
  • 2 governors with an M.D.
