This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $50 million which would add $.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value to local taxes. The money will go towards upgrading facilities and making it more competitive with other hospitals, notably adding a new impatient wing to the current facility. The group Friends of Whidbey General Hospital was organized to promote this bond measure as the hospital board cannot campaign for the measure. No official group had been organized in opposition to this measure.[2]
