This measure was defeated

  • YES 101
  • NO 138 Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to implement an income tax in the amount of 1 percent on city residents and .5 percent on non residents who work in the city in order to help with the general revenue of the city.[2] The main use of the money generated from this tax would have been to keep street lights operating in residential areas. The reduction of city revenue had led to city officials going for a new source of revenues, already city jobs have had benefits cut to close the budget gap. In 1998 a similar measure was defeated by city residents.[3]
