Meek ran in the 2012 election for South Dakota House of Representatives District 26A. Meek was defeated by Troy Heinert in the Democratic primary on June 5. Democrats Calvin G. Jones and Trent Poignee Sr. also ran. No Republican candidates filed for election. The general election took place on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Larry Lucas (D) is not running for re-election.[1][2]
