William Dotzler is a Democratic member of the Iowa Senate, representing District 11.

Education

Dotzler earned his AA from North Iowa Area Community College in 1969. He went on to receive his BA in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa in 1975.

Professional experience

Dotzler is a past President of Waterloo Visiting Nursing Association. He worked in the United States Army Security Agency in Military Intelligence from 1969 to 1972. He is a retired Machine Operator and Labor Representative for John Deere & Company.

Political experience

Dotzler served in the Iowa State House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002. He joined the Iowa State Senate in 2002 and has served in that position since. He is currently Assistant Majority Leader, representing the 11th district.
