Pignatelli served as a Lenox Selectman from 1992-2003, and Berkshire County Commissioner from 1995-1999.

Pignatelli won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts House of Representatives Fourth Berkshire District. Pignatelli was unopposed in the September 6 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
2010
Pignatelli won election to the Fourth Berkshire Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Lee Scott Laugenor (GR) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
