Sharer was an Officer in the United States Army from 1982 to 1992. He was then the owner of Popcorn Patch from 1992 to 1993. He was also General Manager of Taco Bell from 1993 to 1995. He has been the owner of Credit Bureau of Farmington since 1995.
Sharer earned his AA from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1979. He went on to receive his BA from New Mexico State University in 1981.[1]
