Willie Gandara recall, Socorro, Texas (2011)
The recall election took place on May 14th, 2011. Early voting for the recall election began on Monday May 2nd and ended on Tuesday May 10th.
Rumblings of a recall first began in October 2010, when Ralph Duran said he was going to initiate a recall campaign against four of Socorro's city council members, and that he was not going to target the mayor. The four council members Duran was angry at had asked Mayor Gandara to resign. The resignation request came after Gandara was indicted on corruption charges.
