A Winthrop Town Sales Tax Increase measure was on the August 16, 2011 ballot in the town of Winthrop which is in Okanogan County.

This measure sought to increase the current sales tax in the town by a rate of .1 percent for an ongoing amount of time in order to help pay for criminal justice and fire protection services in the town.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the Town of Winthrop be allowed to impose an increase in sales and use tax in the amount of 0.1% on the selling price in the case of sales tax, or the value of the article used in the case of use tax, and such revenue to be used by the Town at least one-third (1/3) for criminal justice purposes or fire protection purposes, or both, to be effective as of January 1, 2012?[3]
