Wisconsin Attorney General Sends Prosecutors, Cops to the Polls on Election Day

As the fears of the integrity of clean elections are rising, Attorney General JB Van Hollen (R-Wisconsin) is sending cops, and other prosecutors to the polls to make sure indpendently that the elections are done cleanly and fairly and monitor the polls along with prosecuting cases if neccesssary[1].

Attorney General Van Hollen Explains How this Action Protects Votes
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced during a Tuesday press conference in Madison that as a part of his election integrity efforts the Attorney General and the Wisconsin Department of Justice will be sending assistant attorney generals and special agents from the Division of Criminal Investigation to various locations around the state on Election Day to ensure compliance with state laws governing elections[1].
Van Hollen said to the media that the assistant attorneys general and special agents that will be called for duty on election day have been trained on election law, voting rights and the responsibilities and rights of election observers and are prepared to assist state and local election officials as well as law enforcement.
“An individual’s right to vote and have that vote counted is the foundation of our democratic system,” stated Van Hollen. The Wisconsin Attorney General also stated: “Citizens also have a right to vote in fair elections, untainted by election fraud. The (Wisconsin) Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that every citizen’s right to vote in a fair election is protected.”[1].
Wisconsin Democrat Party Chairman Slams VanHollen's Actions, Calls the Move Partisan
A day after the Attorney General's press conference, Joe Wienke, Jr. the Democrat Party Chairman for the State of Wisconsin issued a press release slamming the Republican Attorney General's actions[2].
Wienke stated in his press release: “After losing his hyper-partisan lawsuit against the Government Accountability Board, Attorney General JB Van Hollen is now so desperate to influence the election that he has resorted to sending state prosecutors to intimidate voters at the polls at the expense of Wisconsin taxpayers."
Wienke also stated in his press release to the Wisconsin Media: “"The U.S. Department of Justice has already decided that criminal prosecutors will not be used as election monitors this year, and it is irresponsible of Van Hollen to use state prosecutors in this way. This is nothing more than a shameless political stunt designed to appease Van Hollen’s Republican Party bosses and manipulate the election in their favor by disenfranchising voters." Wienke is making this claim as a past investigation done by Republican US Attorney Steven E. Biskupic for the Eastern District of Wisconsin concluded there was no past incidents of widespread fraud. However, earlier this year the Milwaukee Police Department's Special Investigations unit released a report citing evidence of widespread, massive voter fraud in the City of Milwaukee[3]. This report has prompted Attorney General Van Hollen to form a non-partisan task force with Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm as three registration deputies are facing felony voter registration fraud charges while close to 45 other people have been referred for prosecution.
