The Wisconsin Local Debt Limit for School Districts Amendment was a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment on the April 4, 1961 ballot in Wisconsin, where it was approved.

  • This amendment modified Article XI, Section 3 of the Wisconsin Constitution to set a debt limit at 10% of equalized property value for integrated aid school districts.[1]

Text of measure

The language that appeared on the ballot:

"Shall section 3 of article XI of the constitution be amended so that the limitation on the indebtedness of school districts entitled to the highest level of state aid shall not exceed ten per centum of the value of the property as equalized for state purposes?"[1]
