Wisconsin Public Officer Privilege Use Amendment, Question 4 (April 1956)
This amendment sought to modify Article XIII, Section 11 of the Wisconsin Constitution to allow employees of railroads and public utilities who are also public office holders to receive privileges similar to other company employees only when not performing official public duties.

Text of measure
The language that appeared on the ballot:
"Shall the last paragraph of section 11 of article XIII of the constitution be amended so as to permit giving free passes, franks or other privileges for traveling accommodations, transportation or transmission of messages or communications to notaries public and regular employees of railroads and other public utilities who are candidates for or hold public office to the same extend as the other employes of such corporations, provided the same shall not be used or exercised in traveling to or from public office or in the performance of official duties?"
The explanation of the amendment by the Milwaukee County Board of Election Commissioners read:
"If the amednment is adopted employes of a railroad or other public utility who hold passes for free transportation or have other privileges, and who are also public officers, may not use such passes or privileges in traveling to or from their public office or in the performance of any official duty."
