This page is a content-and-style guide about how to create stub (starter) articles about activists, donors and organizations.

Key components

Naming the article

Articles about activists, donors or organizations should feature only the name of the organization or the name of the activist. Example: an article about the "National Audubon Society" should be named National Audubon Society.

When starting an article, verify the name of the organization with the official website. For example: some organizations include "the" or "and" in the title but is not featured in for example, news articles.

The same goes for activists or donor names. Example: an article about "Anne Earhart" should be titled Anne Earhart.

Introductory sentence and paragraph

The introductory sentence should feature the organization, activist or donor name in bold text followed by the organization's main goals or mission, as well as any historical information (e.g. name of current org president, activity in legislature or ballot measures, year established, etc.). Sources should be cited. In this instance, the most likely source will be the organization, activist or donor official website.

Example for California Teachers Association introductory sentence/paragraph:

The California Teachers Association (CTA) is a National Education Association-affiliated union in California.[1] CTA was established in 1863 as the California Educational Society. Based in Burlingame, its current president is David Sanchez. About 1,100 chapters or local teachers associations are chartered as CTA affiliates. The California Faculty Association and the California Community College Association are also affiliated with CTA. The CTA is a major player in California politics, including ballot measure and state legislative campaigns.

Infobox

Infoboxes for organization profiles are a table of information with a readily recognizable appearance that is added to the top right-hand corner of articles about state legislators. It presents a summary of key information about the organization, with that summary being consistent from article-to-article.

Articles about organizations should include an infobox. For more details about specific code and installation, click here.
