Writing:State legislative standing committee pages
This page is a content-and-style guide about how to create pages for standing committees of state legislatures.
Standing committees are permanent committees and do not include select, temporary, or interim committees.
Each committee page should have the following sections:
Key components
Intro
The first sentence on each committee page should read as follows:
- The COMMITTEE is a standing committee of the [[CHAMBER]].
For example, on the Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee, Kentucky State Senate page, the introduction reads:
The Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee is a standing committee of the Kentucky State Senate.
More examples:
- Appropriations Committee, North Dakota State Senate
- Appropriations Committee, Arizona House of Representatives
- Government Affairs Committee, Nevada State Senate
Function
The next section of the committee page would be the description of the committee, to be called ==Function== within the page. It should be below the introduction and above the committee members and legislation section.
The function can nearly always be found on the actual committee web page. However, more expansive research may be necessary for some states.
