  • NO 4,589 (66.5%)Defeatedd[1]

This measure ought to increase the pay of the City Mayor and Council members. The Mayor currently gets paid $12,000 and the proposed increase would be to $18,000; Council members currently get paid $3,600 and the increase would be to $5,000. This increase was proposed by the charter review commission, although they knew that asking for more money for officials was going to be hard, they felt that the mayor and council members deserved an increase in their pay. Both positions have not had a salary increase in 27 years.[2]

On July 20, the city council finalized the language of the ballot. If this measure is approved, the salary increases would be implemented January 1, 2014.[3]
