Yvonne Prettner Solon (b. February 3, 1946) is the Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. She was elected in 2010 on a ticket with Mark Dayton.[1]

Biography

Prior to her election in 2010, Solon served as member of the Minnesota State Senate. She was first elected to that position in a special election in 2002, serving until 2011. Before becoming a Senator, Solon was a Councilwoman and President of the Duluth City Council from 1988 to 2000. [2][3]

Lieutenant Governor (2011-Present)

She ran for Lt. Governor in 2010 on a ticket with Mark Dayton.[4][2][3]

Minnesota State Senate (2002-2011)

Solon served as member of the Minnesota State Senate. She was first elected to that position in a special election in 2002, serving until 2011. [2][3] Solon represented Minnesota Senate District 7, which included the City of Duluth.[5]

Solon ran successfully for Lt. Governor in 2010. She faced Annette Meeks (R), Dan Dittmann (G), James Mulder (I), Howard Hanson (Resource Party), Erin Wallace (Ecology Democracy Party) and Edwin Engelmann (Grassroots Party) in the general election on November 2, 2010.

2006

On November 7, 2006, Solon won re-election to the 7th District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating Steve Khalar (R).[7]
