Biography
Prior to her election in 2010, Solon served as member of the Minnesota State Senate. She was first elected to that position in a special election in 2002, serving until 2011. Before becoming a Senator, Solon was a Councilwoman and President of the Duluth City Council from 1988 to 2000. [2][3]

She ran for Lt. Governor in 2010 on a ticket with Mark Dayton.[4][2][3]
Minnesota State Senate (2002-2011)
Solon served as member of the Minnesota State Senate. She was first elected to that position in a special election in 2002, serving until 2011. [2][3] Solon represented Minnesota Senate District 7, which included the City of Duluth.[5]

On November 7, 2006, Solon won re-election to the 7th District Seat in the Minnesota State Senate, defeating Steve Khalar (R).[7]
