B. Patrick Bauer (b. May 25, 1944) is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing the 6th District since 1970. He is the current Speaker of the House, and previously served as Minority Leader from 2005-2006.

Bauer works as Dean of External Affairs at Ivy Tech State College. He has also been Assistant to the Superintendent for Special Programs with the South Bend Community School Corporation.

Bauer is a member of the American Federation of Teachers, Indiana State Teachers Association, Indiana University - South Bend Advisory Board, and the Urban Enterprise Association of South Bend, Incorporated Advisory Board.[1]

Bauer is running for re-election to the 6th District Seat in 2010 against Republican Duane Beals. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 4th. The general election takes place on November 2, 2010.


On November 4, 2008, Democrat B. Patrick Bauer won re-election to the Indiana House of Representatives District 6 receiving 14,015 votes, ahead of Republican Kevin Mitschelen who received 6,349 votes.[2]
