One hundred one questions are certified for spots on 38 statewide ballots in 2014, as of June 5, 2014. One measure in Ohio was approved by voters during the May 15, 2014 primary election. Two measures in California were approved by voters during the state's June 3, 2014 primary election. Proposed measures can be found here. Initiatives that have already filed signatures and are pending certification can be found here. Measures that will not appear on 2014 ballots can be found here.

Historically, even-numbered years feature a significant increase in the quantity of ballot measures over odd-numbered years. Though 2012 featured a full 188 questions on the ballot, that is actually lower than the 194 average for even-numbered years since 2000. It remains to be seen whether or not 2014 will continue this downward trend since the 2006 high point of 226. The probability of that happening partly depends on the success of various legislation and proposed constitutional amendments which would make it harder to place measures on the ballot.

In 2014, there are seven election dates during which statewide measures will appear on the ballot. So far, legislatively-referred constitutional amendments are dominating the ballots, making up 61 out of the total 86 questions. This is not unsurprising, as more than half of the 26 states that allow initiatives and referendums on the ballot have not yet passed their signature filing deadlines. Therefore, there is still ample time for the number of initiatives on the ballot to increase. Meanwhile, there are 13 initiatives, five veto referendums, six legislatively-referred state statutes and one automatic ballot referral currently certified for 2014 statewide ballots.
