Crowe ran for re-election in 2011. He defeated state house incumbent Nita Hutter (R) in the October 22 primary election. Louisiana uses a blanket primary system. Because Hutter and Crowe were the only two candidates on October 22, then the winner of that race was the overall winner -- as long as they received 50 percent of the vote.[1]
