Aileen Gunther is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 100 since 2013. She previously represented District 98 from 2003 to 2013 after winning a special election.

Gunther is a human immunodeficiency virus counselor. Her other professional experiences include being a New York State government liaison for the Mid-Hudson Chapter of Infection Control Practitioners; former director for performance improvement and risk management; and a registered nurse.

Gunther earned a national certification in infection control; a nursing degree from Orange County Community College; and attended in liberal arts at State University of New York, New Paltz. She is widowed and has three children; Mary Alice, Jacob, and Caitlin.[1]

Gunther ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 100. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. She also ran on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. She defeated Gary D. Linton in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
