Lee ran for Texas Railroad Commission in 2012. He lost to incumbent Barry Smitherman, Greg Parker and Elizabeth Murphy-Kolb in the May 29 Republican Primary.[1]

Jaime Perez is running on the Libertarian ticket and Josh Wendel is running for the Green Party. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.
