The Alabama State Employees Association (ASEA) originated as the State Employees Social Club in the 1940's. In 1971, it became the ASEA and adopted the more formal goal of working to better the quality of life of state employees. Currently, the ASEA has 130 local chapters across the state and has created a second branch for retired state employees, ASEA Retired.[1]
