Alan N. Maisel is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 59. He was first elected to the chamber in 2006 after winning a special election.

Maisel has also been a member of Community Board #18 and a chairman/member of District #22 Community School Board.

Biography

Maisel earned a B.A. in History from Long Island University, Brooklyn Center, a MA in Urban Studies from Long Island University, Brooklyn Center, and an Advance Certificate, Administration and Supervision in Education from Brooklyn College.[1] Maiselis is a retired assistant principal and teacher. His other professional experience includes being the chief of staff for New York State Assemblyman Frank Seddio, and an administrative assistant to United States Congressman Charles Schumer.[2]

Maisel ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 59. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. He defeated Robert Maresca in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [3][4]
