Alaska is the largest state in the U.S. by area and the only U.S. state that borders two foreign countries, Russia across the Bering Strait and Canada to the east, and two oceans, the Arctic and the Pacific. It is among the least populated states in the U.S. and most of its 730,000+ residents populate the city of Anchorage and not its capital, Juneau. In a state dominated by the fishing, oil and natural gas industries, there 20 members of the Alaska State Senate, 40 members of the Alaska House of Representatives, two members of the U.S. Senate, and one member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
