Albio Sires (b. January 26, 1951) is a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from New Jersey. Sires was elected by voters from New Jersey's 13th congressional district. He is running for re-election in 2012.

Based on an analysis of bill sponsorship by GovTrack, Sires is a "rank-and-file Democrat".[1]

Biography

Sires was born in Bejucal, Cuba. He earned a B.A. from St. Peter’s College in 1974, and his M.A. from Middlebury College in 1985.[2]

Career

Sires was a teacher and business owner before entering public service.[3]

On November 2, 2010, Sires was re-elected to the United States House for a third term. He defeated Henrietta Dwyer (R), Anthony Zanowic (Independent American), and Maximo Gomez Nacer (Gravity Buoyancy Solution).[7]

Congressman Sires resides in West New York with his wife, Adrienne. His stepdaughter, Tara Kole, graduated from Harvard Law School, clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and now works for a private law firm in Los Angeles.[9]
