Alcee Lamar Hastings (b. September 5, 1936) is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Hastings was elected by voters from Florida's 23rd congressional district.

Hastings is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Florida's 20th District. He is seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket. [1] Primary elections will be held on August 14, 2012.

Based on an analysis of bill sponsorship by GovTrack, Hastings is a "moderate Democratic leader".[2]

Biography

Born in Altamonte Springs, Florida, Hastings was educated at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and Howard University in Washington, D.C. He received his law degree from Florida A&M University in 1963, and began to practice law.[3]
