This measure sought to renew the current operations levy which is set at a rate of $.95 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further twenty years in order to continue to pay for general operation costs in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previously voted increase in the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within Alpine Township under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution, of 1.0 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.9508 mill by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at 0.9508 mill ($0.9508 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied annually on all taxable real and personal property for twenty (20) years, 2013 through 2032, inclusive, to provide funds for general operating purposes including police, fire, and library support, raising an estimated $364,656 in the first year the millage is levied?[3]
