Brown-Harrison is a Pittsfield Township trustee. She has worked as a news writer in the Detroit television market, a communications advisor and speechwriter in the Michigan State Senate, and a teacher. She has a degree in political science from Eastern Michigan University, and as of 2012 was working toward a master's in teaching at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Brown-Harrison opposes cuts to education, and supports collective bargaining rights and increased funding for public universities.
Brown-Harrison is running in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 55. She is running against Adam Zemke in the Democratic primary on August 7. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012. 
Brown-Harrison grew up in a family with ties to the United Auto Workers. She is married to a firefighter; they have two children.
