Hevesi is running in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 28. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. He is also running on the Working Families Party ticket. No candidates filed to run in the Republican primary. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012. [1][2]

Hevesi defeated Joseph Fox in the September 14 Democratic primary. He defeated Aleksander Powiertzynski (R) and Joseph Tiraco (I) in the general election on November 2.[4] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he ran on the Working Familes ticket.
