Andrew Raia is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly. He has represented District 9 since 2003.

Raia's professional experiences include chief of staff for Suffolk County Legislator Allan Binder; and as an office worker for multiple New York State Assemblymen, a New York State Senate Majority Leader, and a New York State Senator.

Raia earned a BA in political science from the State University New York at New Paltz.[1]

Raia ran unopposed in the September 14 Republican primary. He defeated Christopher Dempsey (D) in the general election on November 2.[2] In addition to his slot on the Republican Party ticket, he was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State and the Conservative Party.

2008

On November 4, 2008 Raia won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 9, defeating opponents Karen Kerr-Ozimek (D) and Michele Mastrangelo (WF).

Raia raised $114,874 for his campaign while Kerr-Ozimek raised $11,662 and Mastrangelo raised $0.[3]
