Andrew Rice was a Democratic member of the Oklahoma State Senate, representing the 46th District and serving as State Senate Minority Leader. Rice joined the Senate in 2006. On October 18, 2011, he announced that he would be resigning from the Senate effective January 15, 2012. Rice stated he would be supporting his wife "in her pursuit of a career opportunity outside the state of Oklahoma." [1]

Rice received a Bachelor's Degree from Colby College (Maine) in 1996 and a Master's Degree from Harvard University Divinity School in 1999. Rice founded the Progressive Alliance Foundation which focuses on working with the state of Oklahoma to advance "progressive, fair-minded and constitutional solutions to public policy problems." Rice also started the Red River Democracy Project.
