Kajitazovic won election to the Iowa House of Representatives, defeating John Rooff (R) in the November 2 general election.[7]

In the June 8th primary election, Kajitazovic defeated Democratic incumbent Kerry Burt by a margin of 654 to 61. Burt was no longer actively campaigning.
