Gronowicz graduated from Columbia University and then University of Pennsylvania where he got a Ph.D. in New York City political history.
Gronowicz lists several of his campaign themes on his website:
- a living wage and full employment through public works as in the New Deal’s WPA program
- affordable housing
- health care for all
- free college (as was the case with the City University from 1847 to 1975)
Gronowicz ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing New York's 14 District. He sought the nomination on the Green Party ticket. He was unopposed in the primary and faced incumbent Joseph Crowley (D) and William Gibbons Jr. (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012. He was defeated by Joseph Crowley on November 6, 2012.
