There is a dispute currently over Arenac Township Trash Collection Referendum and the right to have a referendum vote on this issue in Arenac County in the Arenac Township.

A township resident, Glen Rice, attempted to petition for a referendum vote on trash collection in the township for the May ballot. But legal issues have come up. He has been getting conflicting information on who needs to sign the petition and how many signatures are needed for it to be a valid petition. There is also the issue of if trash collection is legally able to be a referendum issue. Rice wants township voter approval of the tax the township has added to resident's bills concerning the collection of their trash, an additional $113 a year. Rice is willing to take his petition to a judge to get the right information, but no decision has been made yet on the issue.[1]
