This measure sought to create a bond in the amount of $12.8 million in order to help pay for modernization of the high school facilities as well as build a new elementary school in the district.[2] Information provided by the school district noted that the renovation and modernization of the high school facilities was important to maintain a competitive school environment as well as ensure the continued safety of students. Residents would have paid, on average, $2.87 per $1,000 of assessed property value for 20 years to help pay off the bond money. The school district also expected money from the state to help pay for the bond and had also applied for grants to further help pay for the projects.[3]
